North Africa

Whether you separate it geologically or politically, Northern Africa may consist of different countries. In general, it's the northern most region of Africa, separated basically by the Sahara desert. What is interesting is that North Africa has more in common with Southern Europe and Western Asia than South Africa. This is because of the desert and the fact that the Mediterranean made it somewhat easy to visit. Whatever the reason, Northern Africa definitely has a different feel. It's also home to the Nile, the world's largest river (beating even the mighty Amazon river.)

Western Africa

When people talk about Western Africa, they usually include some countries that are considered to also be North Africa, but for the most part, this refers to the Western most portion of the African continent. As you might imagine, the geography and the people and cultures are different than in other parts of Africa. This is one of the more popular destinations for those traveling to Africa.

Middle Africa

This is the 'core' of Africa. With some of the nations on the West Coast, it primarily consists of the interior of the African continent. Also known as Central Africa, this is a great place to visit for those who like the outdoors and want to experience the lush landscape of interior Africa. There are some areas that are safer than others, but this is true anywhere in the world. Middle Africa is a wonderful place to visit.

Eastern Africa

The East Coast of Africa isn't as well known for tourism (unless you count North Eastern Africa), but there are some wonderful places to travel in Eastern Africa. For the more adventurous or those looking for something different, this is a great destination. With some of the most wonderful wilderness areas left on the planet, it's a place some people will get a lot out of when they go.

Southern Africa

Because of the history of British in the area and the fact that English is spoken, this is one of the primary destinations for most people traveling to Africa. There is a lot to see and do on the southern tip of the African continent. From the country of South Africa to all the other smaller countries around, there is much to experience for those who want to have a more traditional African experience.

Africa Adventures

The African continent offers many places that are great for travel. If you are looking for an adventure - of any type - the African continent may be just the place for you. There are many things to see and do, making sure you're not bored, unless you want to be, relaxing among some of the most pristine natural wonders in the entire world. As the world continues to change in the 21st century, the African continent continues to change as well. With a rich history and culture, it is becoming a place that people around the world have their eyes on for various reasons. There's been no better time than the present to visit this continent as it blossoms into something truly special.
