What Is The Most Expensive Coffee In The World ? How to Produce Kopi Luwak ?

Dear Diary,

How nice to talk to you while sipping my coffee. Speaking of coffee, they roasted and ground you beautiful fruit seeds. Your ancient past and being found by a shepherd.. What a story..

Being the first time you're frozen food, and the most expensive and the coolest is cat faeces. This event actually went very strange to me, but I still did not want to try. Not because of what it was made of, of course.

Kopi Luwak .

Kopi Luwak . The civets, which live on the island of Sumatra and its surroundings, which means coffee , are closely related to Kopi Luwak. These cats are called Paradoxurus. There are coffee trees in the feeding areas of the cats, and coffee beans are among the foods of the cats. civet cats coffee They feed by swallowing their seeds whole. Thanks to the enzymes in their stomach, the coffee beans are fermented and the cats expel these beans through the feces. At this point, “Wait a minute, am I guessing right?” I said. Yes, that's right, coffee beans are extracted from the feces of cats and roasted after disinfection. It is ready to be cooked. This coffee goes on sale for around 350-500 dollars a kilo because only 200-250 kilos are produced per year. It is mostly produced in Sumatra, Java and Bali. One cup of coffee costs 30 euros in cafes. Isn't it incredible?

Does it taste? As far as we know from those who have tried it, it has a ground-like texture like Turkish coffee and tastes like chocolate. Plus, it's pretty soft. The reason for its softness is the acid in the stomach of luwaks.

Let's get to the sad part. Of course, every beautiful thing has a tragic side. Frankly, I wasn't surprised at all. For the production of Kopi Luwak, civets are taken from their natural environment and sentenced to live in cages and are fed only with coffee beans. Taken from their natural environment, luwaks lose their hunting characteristics over time. When they get old or their productivity decreases, animals released into their natural environment cannot adapt and unfortunately die within a few months.

Please decide, is it worth it or not?
