Is Bali Expensive? How Much To Spend In Bali? 2022

The places you will probably stay in Bali will be Ubud, Uluwatu, Seminyak, Canggu and the islands. (See: Bali Travel Guide ) Prices in these locations are not very different, be it food or accommodation, or transportation. Therefore, generalizing the whole island and asking, “How much is spent in Bali?” As I will answer the question, I will try to examine different locations one by one.

First of all, let me state that since we are 6 people, we rented Airbnb villas in all locations . (You can take a look at what is Airbnb and how to use it) However, you can also take a look at the Booking villa option. In addition to all this, if you are not a large group, hotel room prices are not too high.

Our cost of accommodation per night : Average of $25

Note: Do n't expect unbelievably cheap prices like Sri Lanka , Philippines . A little closer to Turkey.

Transportation Costs in Bali

If you are going to change your accommodation location, if you have to take a taxi. In other words, apart from the places you will visit daily, it will be necessary to add these to the expenses. I also explained in detail in our Transportation in Bali article ; Gojek app is the most affordable app among all apps. Other than that, I write the average prices below.

Perhaps the most correct answer to the question of is Bali expensive comes from the cost of eating and drinking. Since Bali is a very touristic island, you can access all world cuisines, as well as try "warung", Indonesian cuisine in local restaurants. Also, the food and beverage business in Bali is roughly the same as in Istanbul.

Seafood restaurant: 200,000-300,000 IDR per person (If you want to try some fantastic stuff like shrimp, octopus)
International cuisine: 150,000-200,000 IDR per person
A meal at Warung: IDR 40,000 per person
Average coffee price: 20,000 -30,000 IDR
Average beer price: 35-40,000 IDR
Average breakfast price: 70,000 IDR
Average “smoothie bowl” price: 50-60,000 IDR
A Very Important Note: Friends, service fee and tax are charged separately in most touristic places. Two of them can make you an extra payment of 10-15% in total.

Market Prices

Beer : 25,000 IDR
Imported Beer : 35,000 IDR
1 Liter of Water : 5000 IDR
1 Kg of Banana : 10.000 IDR

Touristic Activity Expenses

Swinging on the left swing – 200,000 IDR
Shooting the bird's nest on the right 50,000 IDR
Tourist activity expenses are ridiculously expensive and unnecessary. Of course, the touristic activities mentioned here are sky bike, swings, fly-and-fly actions such as ziplines. However, entering a temple is relatively convenient.

Daily car rental: 450-550,000 IDR
Zipline: 350,000 IDR

Selfie points (bird's nest): 50,000 IDR
Diving – boat rental : 100-150.000 IDR

Temple and Touristic Area Prices
Bali Expenditures - To Holy Water Temple
Bali Expenditures – You give 50,000 IDR to the Holy Water Temple and in return they give you a sarong to wrap around your waist. However, they smell very bad.
Temples take up very little space in Bali spending. Most temples are free to enter anyway, but they require you to donate. Otherwise, they do not give sarongs and you cannot enter the temple without a sarong. You have to wear these sarongs, male and female. And be warned, in some temples (especially the holy water temple), sarongs stink.

Tanah Lot Temple: 20,000 IDR
Besakih Temple: IDR 60,000
Tirta Empul: 50,000 IDR
Tirta Gangga 30,000 IDR
Tegallalang Rice Field: 15,000 IDR
Jatiluwith Rice Field: 40,000 IDR
Ubud Monkey Forest: 60,000 IDR
Gitgit Waterfall: 20,000 IDR
Ulun Danu Temple: 50,000 IDR
Uluwatu Temple: 30,000 IDR
Lempuyang Temple: 10-15000  donations
Taman Ayung Temple:  20,000 IDR
Kecak Dance: 100,000 IDR
Note: In Bali, at Lempuyang temple, mirrored photos are taken with all sorts of scams. Actually, there is no reflecting puddle on the floor, they put a mirror under the phone. You can see it in detail in the post below:

  • Wooden Mask : 200.000 IDR
  • Dream Catcher – Macrame : 100,000 IDR

Total amount we spent during our 13-day Bali trip with airfare: $1601700

We have come to the end of Bali travel expenses article. In conclusion, to the question of whether Bali is expensive, I can say, “It is cheaper than Europe, but you can spend a similar amount to your holiday expenses in Turkey”. In addition, it is necessary to consider the flight cost of 600-700 dollars.
