Bali Travel Trip Diary

This morning I woke up early to a beautiful view of Mt Agung. Crisp skies that meant nothing other than a beautiful sunrise from up top would have been possible today. I pondered hiking it, inquired with a few different companies, and it just wasn't in the cards. The weather wasn't great the prior days when looking up at it, and I questioned the safety if it was rainy (slippery) since at the top it seemed like such a scramble on all fours. Since I'm attempting to take a different approach with my outlook of life I've settled in with the thought that this hike didn't happen for a reason. If I did hike it would Daniel and I still have made climbing Mt. St Helens a goal for this summer? Also it gives me something to come back to Bali and conquer :)My time in Amed wasn't at all what I expected. I believed I'd be snorkeling and lounging on the beach all day. Instead I laid around in my room most of the first night, the full day I had there I rented a scooter and zoomed along the coast

Before trash snorkeling. The beach left a lot to be desired and the snorkeling was cool when you were aying attention to the fish, it was disturbing when you had pieces of trash floating around you touching your legs. Once I got scared by a plastic bag thinking it was a jellyfish I gave up on the snorkeling. Maybe I should have asked for a guide and gone out further past the trash wash...again it's ok. I have been bummed by the lack of snorkeling that has occurred on this trip, but I have faith that on Gili Air I'll get my fix! I had dinner at a restaurant that was recommended for me this stay at (in Bali many guest houses/dual as restaurants or vice versa) however I did not choose to stay there because it was a little further out of my budget.

When I sat down at a table near the beach I realized I should have probably stayed there. The beach was completely clean of trash the water looked fantastic in front of their property. Another lesson learned, when someone recommends something to you, go with that! I have no complaints about my guesthouse though as the owner was one of the sweetest most genuine locals I've met! I arrived back at my guesthouse last night to a note from the driver of the "shuttle" I booked to go to Kuta in the morning stating that we were leaving at 9 instead of 1130, okay sure that works...maybe I won't snorkel in front of Sama Sama where it was clean in the morning, that's ok.

At 9 this morning as I walked down the the road to wait for my shuttled, I'm greeted by a man driving a nice little car. He says he will be transporting me along with another guy to our shuttle

Scoopy selfie. He has my receipt in hand so I hop it, hoping this is my ride all the way to Kuta!! Sure enough it is my ride to the south although not to where I asked to book a shuttle to :( I couldn't complain I basically had a private driver and loved our ride, the driver was awesome to chat with and kept cracking jokes. It made me realize how much I miss the basic banter of conversations and humor! In Sanur I was let to get a taxi to my hostel in Canggu. This hostel is called The Farm it's excellent as well! I immediately rented a scooter realizing there's no walking from place to place here. I laid by the pool and allowed myself to relax, met with Genevieve and her friend from the silent retreat, and decided now to just stay in for the night and be lazy.

Everyone here are here to surf, so I want to take a lesson or two! I also have some yoga places I'd like to check out. I'm thinking after my time here I'll head to Kuta the forbidden overly touristy area to stay a day to shop for some yoga gear and visit the water park Tasia showed me!! Saturday morning I get picked up for my yoga retreat that I'm really craving at this point! I am enjoying forcing myself to go with the flow and let go of the controlling things every moment. Even practiced relaxing today when I thought about grabbing my phone and looking for a yoga class then decided soaking up sun with my eyes closed was more important! It's good to know this about myself....organized events-I like them. Empty space and time...not my thing apparently :)
