Anyone going to Georgia (country) this summer? Need to figure out my plan

I (28M) want to travel for like a week and a half, but realistically I'll have 8-9 days. I would usually like to take public transport but seeing as I have zero grasp of the language, maybe I should stick to tours.

My plan at the moment:

(Tours on Alternate days:) Prometheus Caves, Kutaisi, Martvili Canyons, Uplistsikhe, Gori, Jvari, Mtshketa, Vardzia, Rabati, Borjomi, Kakheti, Sameba, Ananuri, Gudauri, Kazbegi, Gergeti

(By myself, in between tours:) Mother Of Georgia statue, Narikala Fortress, Leaning Tower of Tbilisi, Dry Bridge Market, Bank of Georgia building, Bathhouse #5, Underground Printing House, Sabir's Chaikhana, Tbilisi Automuseum, Vank Bell Tower, Fabrika (for partying), Heroes Square Underpass, Holy Trinity Cathedral, any jazz cafe, The Bridge of Peace, Mtatsminda Park, Sioni Cathedral, Tbilisi Botanical Garden, Meidaan Bazaar

Initially I had more elaborate plans for Batumi and Kutaisi, but idk if it's worth the journey given my relatively short stay.

Thoughts? Anyone going next month?

  1. Where do you arrive ? Where do you leave ? You are optimistic, even with tours, when I see all the places you have indicated.

    1. If I had to keep the must-see places out of that (by myself:) list, what would I have to remove from there?

  2. Even if you don't speak Georgian or Russian (even if not the best idea now), moving around the country with shared or public transports is totally doable and far to be a challenge. If you have any issue for a specific journey, it's always possible to use a taxi, official or not.

  3. Batumi is not well located when the timeframe is limited. On a map, the country is small but far to be flat. You need to have enough time and you can't spend all your days inside transports too.

  4. Hey I'll be there in July, what tour company are you using? Have you booked them all? I hate booking things too early in case I change my plans.

  5. I went to Georgia last September. You seem to be trying to put a lot in on that time. If I were you I’d split something like 3 nights in either Signaghi or Kazbegi depending on your interest and the rest in Tbilisi with like 2 day trips mixed in. I could give more details if you’d like on what I do and don’t recommend.

  6. Hi OP, I lived outside of Batumi a few years ago and while your plans seems very ambitious, I think it might not be doable for the length of time you have. There are only a few main large highways across the country and for many of the areas you indicated you have to pass through very mountainous terrain, sometimes on very slightly paved roads that are typically only 1 lane, resulting in major traffic jams. If you are booking multiple tours from various companies I think you may have an issue getting a refund if for some reason you can't get back to a base location on time. I think you are vastly underrating how much you want to see and how logistically frenetic, but awesome, it is going to be to make it to all these sights. My suggestion to you is to pick maybe 3 locations/cities in eastern or western Georgia (I am using Borjomi as the center in this example) and sightsee around there and Tbilisi. Vardzia, Rabati and other western Georgian locations are amazing, but there is plenty I didnt get to see in eastern Georgia that should be just as great.
