12 actionable steps to drive newsletter growth with SEO content

Posted: 06 May 2022 11:15 PM PDT

Over the last 2 and a half years, we've placed significant emphasis on growing our newsletter subscriber base, and we've achieved a 170% increase (and counting!) across 84 countries.

Newsletter subscriptions coming from organic search traffic.

If you're reading this email, you're probably looking for ways to grow your newsletter list, too.

Spoiler: SEO blog content has been one of the biggest drivers of our growth.

How does it work?

It's simple: We create blog content that ranks highly in search, and we make it super easy (and tempting) for readers to subscribe to our newsletter once they visit our blog.

While the concept seems straightforward, the effort is anything but.

This week, on Moz, we're sharing all 12 tactics we've used to get users from our website onto our newsletter list. They span 3 main areas of growth opportunity:

  1. Attracting potential subscribers to your site.
  2. Improving on-site newsletter conversion (CRO).
  3. Enhancing subscriber engagement.

We've been at this since 2019, and it's definitely more of a marathon than a sprint. But with our lessons to guide you, you'll have a strong head start.

Godspeed!

Cheers,

Michelle
