Saturday's mass shooting at a grocery store in Buffalo marked yet another tragic gun-related event. I honestly don't have the words anymore. It's hard to live in a world where nowhere feels safe — one that's filled with hatred and white supremacy. I'm resharing this piece by senior reporter Caroline Bologna, which shares some advice on how to navigate the feelings of hopelessness, anxiety and fear that may be rising right now. Exaggerated exhales. Breathing properly, especially when your body is in an elevated state of stress, is a rudimentary yet highly effective form of control. Oftentimes when we feel anxious and stressed, it's because we feel OUT of control. Taking little steps to let your body know that you're the one in charge has always been highly effective for me. |
