A dispatch from the spring break trenches
Hello from the middle of spring break! If your kid went to school today, I envy you. All this quality time has been great, but I'm running out of ideas for how to keep my preschooler occupied at home. It's given me an even greater appreciation for his teachers, that's for sure! Naturally, some days have been better than others, but on those that have been particularly meh, I am comforted by this story by Catherine Pearson about the power of "finishing strong" with your kids at night. She referenced an Instagram post by Glennon Doyle in which Glennon says that when she worked as a preschool teacher, she would spend hours coming up with thoughtful lesson plans, but what the kids remembered most was whatever came at the end of their days. "This is my philosophy with all things children now. All you have to do is finish strong," Doyle says. Here's more on that, and what you should say at the end of each night. Best, Ashley Rockman |
