POLICE SCOUR VIDEOS FOR NEW YORK SUBWAY SHOOTER'S MOTIVE The man arrested in the New York subway shooting that wounded 10 people was set to appear in court today on a federal terrorism charge. Police said they're now scouring through angry YouTube videos Frank James left, looking for a possible motive. In a video posted a day before the attack, James called out crime against Black people and said things would only change if certain people were "stomped, kicked and tortured" out of their "comfort zone." [AP] ELON MUSK OFFERS TO BUY TWITTER Billionaire Elon Musk, a critic of social media who weeks ago became Twitter's largest shareholder, offered to buy all of the company's shares for $54.20 each. That's a 54% premium over the share price the day before Musk began investing in the company in January. "Twitter has extraordinary potential. I will unlock it," he said. [HuffPost] BIDEN APPROVES MORE MILITARY AID FOR UKRAINE President Joe Biden approved new military aid worth $800 million to support Ukraine in its fight against Russia. The aid package includes radar, drones and armored vehicles. Meanwhile, Ukraine said its forces disabled the flagship of Russia's Black Sea fleet. [HuffPost] COPS SHOOT BLACK MAN IN HEAD DURING TRAFFIC STOP Grand Rapids, Michigan, police released video footage showing an officer fatally shooting 26-year-old Patrick Lyoya, a father of two, in the back of the head during a traffic stop on April 4. Police have not given a reason for the stop, but said Lyoya's license plate was not registered to the vehicle he was driving. The shooting has prompted several protests. REP. OMAR: ACCOUNTABILITY FOR RUSSIA MEANS ABANDONING U.S. 'HYPOCRICY' Rep. Ilhan Omar (D-Minn.) proposed making the U.S. a member of the International Criminal Court in The Hague and repealing a George W. Bush-era law that requires the U.S. to block the court from investigating Americans. "It's really important for us not to have a law on the books that says in many ways it is OK for everyone to be prosecuted" but not Americans, Omar said. Andy Beshear's (D) veto of legislation that bans transgender girls from participating in any sport or athletic activity designated for girls. The legislation does not restrict students of any gender from participating in sports designated for "boys" or as "coed," but does so for girls' sports. [HuffPost] CALIFORNIA WANTS TO TRIPLE ELECTRIC CAR SALES California announced an ambitious plan to triple electric car sales by 2026 in an effort to curb carbon emissions. Over a tenth of all national car sales take place in California, giving it influence over the auto industry, which said meeting the requirements will be "extremely challenging." Passenger vehicles amount to about 25% of the state's total greenhouse gas emissions — more than any other single source. [AP] TEXAS GOV DUMPS MIGRANTS IN D.C. Texas Gov. Greg Abbott (R) congratulated himself for dumping a busload of immigrants in the heart of Washington as part of a political tantrum over what he falsely describes as President Joe Biden's "open borders" immigration policy. The first bus carried immigrants from Venezuela, Colombia, Cuba and Nicaragua, and a second one is on the way. [HuffPost] ESTRANGED GAY BROTHER OF LAURA INGRAHAM CALLS HER A 'MONSTER' Laura Ingraham's estranged gay brother, Curtis Ingraham, called the her "a monster" over her support for anti-LGBTQ legislation and Russian President Vladimir Putin. Curtis Ingraham responded to a clip from "The Ingraham Angle" in which his sister criticized schools for teaching students about sexuality and gender identity.
