POLL: MORE THAN HALF OF AMERICANS SAY BIDEN NOT TOUGH ENOUGH ON RUSSIA A poll by The Associated Press-NORC Center for Public Affairs Research shows 54% of Americans think Biden has been "not tough enough" in his response to Vladimir Putin's war Ukraine. But as the war has dragged on, Americans' desire to get involved has waned somewhat. Thirty-two percent of Americans say the U.S. should have a major role in the conflict, down from 40% last month. [AP] JUSTICE DEPARTMENT APPEALS RULING ON TRANSPORTATION MASK MANDATE At the urging of the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, the Department of Justice appealed a Trump judge's ruling that overturned the federal mask mandates on travel. "Requiring masking in the indoor transportation corridor remains necessary for the public health," the CDC said. [HuffPost] PUTIN TELLS FORCES NOT TO STORM UKRAINE STRONGHOLD IN MARIUPOL Putin ordered his forces not to storm the last remaining Ukrainian stronghold in the besieged city of Mariupol, but instead to block it "so that not even a fly comes through." Meanwhile, the Kremlin said it submitted a draft of its demands for ending the war, and the West raced to supply Ukraine with heavier weapons. [AP] TRUMP GETS TENSE DURING PIERS MORGAN INTERVIEW Former President Donald Trump appeared to walk out of an interview with his pal Piers Morgan, in which the two oddly shiny men discuss the 2020 presidential election, after the British TV personality pressed Trump on his lies. PELOSI SAYS HER INITIAL REACTION AS THE CAPITOL RIOT BEGAN WAS 'LET ME GET AT 'EM' House Speaker Nancy Pelosi (D-Calif.) was ready to fight for democracy — literally. The leading Democrat was asked what she was thinking when the U.S. Capitol riot began on Jan. 6, 2021. "Being raised in a family of all boys … I was like, 'Let me at 'em,'" she said. His reveal prompted one of the judges, actor Ken Jeong, to walk off the set in disgust. "I'm done," he said. Trooper Brian North turned himself to the state inspector general and was released on $50,000 bail. [AP] POLICE GIVE CONFLICTING ACCOUNTS AFTER KILLING DONNELL ROCHESTER Baltimore police officers who fatally shot 18-year-old Donnell Rochester in February offered shifting descriptions of what happened during the killing, documents reviewed by HuffPost show. Officers cited first-degree attempted murder as a reason to search Rochester's car.
