Trump's rally: there is a risk of a third world war

Donald Trump has not yet formalized his candidacy but has promised his supporters, gathered in Florence, South Carolina, that Republicans will resume Congress, the House, the Senate, and in 2024, presidential year, the "beautiful White House" . But in the meantime he evoked disturbing scenarios regarding Ukraine: "I don't like spreading fear, but this conflict can lead us to the Third World War".

The tycoon said the US must make Russian President Vladimir Putin understand that it will face "dire consequences" if it does not stop the attack on Ukraine. "I - he added - am the only president in four decades who has not brought the United States into a conflict. With me America was respected, with Joe Biden it is neither feared nor respected".

In the end, the former president spoke for less than an hour, he seemed - as the Agi writes - less inspired than previous rallies in Texas and Arizona, the two other stops on this 2022 tour. But he launched a couple of strong messages. With that reference to the "beautiful White House" it was a bit as if the tycoon had run for office, but he will probably do so after the November election result, when he knows he can count on a Congress in the hands of the Republicans, given as big favorites. , both in the House and in the Senate, from the many polls, including those prepared by progressives.

That, Trump hinted - and this is the second message - could be the time when the Conservatives will launch the attack on the electoral regulations to 'seal victory', even by forcing their hand.

The former president said that, with full control of Congress, "measures" will be taken to "ensure fair elections". "We - he promised. - We must make sure that the democratic radicals cannot steal the elections, we must make sure that every election is safe and fair. They have already stolen them from us and we cannot allow it to happen again". How he didn't explain it, but a wake-up call must have been sounded for Democrats, already worried about voting restrictions in many Republican-led states.

"In eight months - he added - the people of South Carolina will send home the Democratic radicals. And all together we will put an end to the career of Nancy Pelosi once and for all (the Democratic leader, Speaker of the House, ed)".

For the rest, Trump has drawn out his usual repertoire: he has re-launched the allegations of fraud, reiterated that he will defend the free movement of arms and the Constitution, and that he will push for "patriotic history" to be taught in schools. He called the withdrawal from Afghanistan one of the "darkest events in American history", called for the closure of the borders to the south to stop the "invasion of illegal immigrants", and vowed to stop the "bloodbath" that devastates the cities they lead. democratic, "overwhelmed by crime". Trump has pointed the finger at New York, Chicago and Portland.

"Our country - he added - has never ended up in such big problems as it is now. No matter how powerful these corrupt radicals may be, you must not forget that this country does not belong to them, but to you. And we will fight, not we will surrender. This is your home, your legacy, and America's freedom is a god-given right. "

"The Americans - he concluded, unleashing the final ovation of the supporters - kneel before God, and only before God. We are one people, one family, together we are unbeatable and invincible. Together, our victory will be inevitable. . We will make America powerful, strong, proud, rich, secure and great again.
