Solo travellers rejoice! After nearly a year and half there is a bonus on the best airline card in the Canadian market and second best overall travel rewards card that doesn't involve a companion! Just like the Amex cards last week, TD's Aeroplan co-brand cards have moved to strictly a points only bonus instead of points + bonus buddy pass. Yes, there was a period where you could convert Buddy Passes to points so at that time I'm sure lots of individuals, solo, single travellers grabbed the card then but if you didn't now's the time you can do so. I really shouldn't say this new offer is just for solo travellers - this offer is just as great for couples, families or whomever, it's just that the old Buddy Pass offer was more conducive for non-solo travellers.
Here are all the TD offers that came out today
- TD® Aeroplan® Visa Infinite* Card Earn up to 50,000 Aeroplan points and no annual fee in the first year†
- TD® Aeroplan® Visa Infinite Privilege* Card Earn up to 105,000 Aeroplan points†
- TD® Aeroplan® Visa Platinum* Card Earn up 20,000 Aeroplan points†
- TD First Class Travel® Visa Infinite* Card Earn up to 100,000 TD Points† and first year no annual fee
In this post we'll cover the new offer on the TD® Aeroplan® Visa Infinite* Card and right now when you apply for the card by September 5 2022 you can receive up to 50,000 Aeroplan points and have the first year annual fee rebated on the primary as well as additional cards! This offer is not available for residents of Quebec. For Quebec residents, please click here.
Once approved you'll get 10,000 points right off the bat when you make your first purchase on the card then if you spend $1,500 on the card in the first 90 days of having it you'll receive an additional 20,000 points. The next 20,000 Aeroplan points come when you spend $7,500 within 12 months of Account opening so as you can see they have attached more a spend component but it's not a huge spend requirement if you do spread it out across your first year. The last points are awarded as an anniversary bonus. Of course there is nothing stopping you from spending $7,500 on the card as soon as you can so that you can receive those points sooner. All told those 50,000 points are worth no less than $750 as we value Aeroplan points at 1.5 cents each however most Aeroplan members should be able to extract more value than that especially if redeeming for business or first class flights.
Now that we've covered the welcome offer let's look at what the card offers as it's standard earn rates and benefits:
The card itself earns 1.5 Aeroplan points per dollar spent with Air Canada (including Air Canada Vacations) It also earns 1.5 Aeroplan points for grocery and gas station purchases and all other purchases earn 1 Aeroplan point per dollar spent on the card. This is a good earn rate for a non Amex card and the fact that it is a great all around Air Canada and Aeroplan benefits card.
