In the most severely affected regions in Germany, the incidence of infection continues to increase. The Schwarzwald-Baar district recorded the highest seven-day incidence with 3342.4. This is followed by the Bavarian district of Haßberge (3142.2) and the district of Eichsfeld in Thuringia (3023.2). Just below that is rain in Lower Bavaria with an incidence of 2928.4.
The nationwide seven-day incidence reported by the Robert Koch Institute (RKI) exceeds the threshold of 1500 for the first time. The RKI gives the value of new infections per 100,000 inhabitants and week in the morning at 1526.8. For comparison: the day before the value was 1496.0. The health authorities in Germany report 146,607 new corona infections to the RKI within one day. This is evident from numbers that reflect the status of the RKI dashboard at 5 a.m. A week ago there were 116,889 infections. Experts assume a high number of cases that are not recorded in the RKI data. One reason is the limited capacity of health authorities, for example, and contacts are often only tracked to a limited extent.
