Miami airport downtown transportation options

How to get from Miami Airport to the city center? Miami , which is one of the first places that comes to mind when it comes to “sea, sun, sand in America”,   also attracts the attention of tourists from all over the world with its rich shopping opportunities, lively social life and entertaining activities.

If you are one of those who dream of having a sunbath in South Beach, wandering around Little Havana to taste a little Latin atmosphere, shopping at Bayside Marketplace after seeing interesting architectural structures in the Art Deco Historic District of Miami Beach District, Miami Airport City Central Transportation Guide article for you.

Because first you have to go to your hotel from the airport.

Miami Airport Downtown Transportation Options

Located 14 kilometers northwest of Miami city centre,  Miami International Airport  is the city's main airport. At the airport, which has 3 terminals, North, Central and South, transportation is provided by walking or walking roads between the terminals.

The airport, which Turkish Airlines organizes once a day, has a wide range of transportation to the city center of Miami Airport, with its richness of public transportation facilities and private transfer services.

1. MIA Mover Trains

Miami Airport MIA Mover Train

The first one I would like to mention among the Miami Airport city center transportation options is  MIA Mover Trains . Actually, Mia Mover Trains don't go to the city center. However, you will need to use these trains to connect with public transport, so I have to mention it.

MIA Mover is actually a train that provides free transportation between Miami Airport terminals. And this train connects the airport to the main train station called Central Station.

MIA Mover trains, which run frequently 24 hours a day, 7 days a week, are also a free shuttle service. MIA Mover Train Station is located on the 3rd floor of the airport, between Dolphin and Flamingo Parks.

2. Metro / Metrorail

Miami Airport Metrorail

In order to use the metro option , which stands out with its affordable price and speed, among the transportation options from Miami Airport to the city center   , you must first go to Central Station with the MIA Mover mentioned above. This journey takes about 5 minutes.

Central Station Station is also the starting point of the orange line of the subway. The metro, which departs every 15 minutes between 05:00 and 02:00 every day, costs 2.50 USD and the journey is around 20 minutes. You can buy tickets from machines at the metro station.

3. Tri-Rail Trains

Miami Airport Tri Rail Trains

Actually, I say Miami Airport city center transportation, but  Tri-Rail does not  go to Miami city center. I still want to mention the Tri-Rail trains going to Mangonia Park in the opposite direction, because there may be someone who needs this information because the location of the hotel is in this direction.

Again, with MIA Mover, you can go to Central Station and get on the Tri-Rail trains every half an hour between 04:00 - 21:40 every day (the frequency decreases to 1 per hour during off-peak hours), and the cost is 2.50 USD depending on the stop you will get off. It ranges from 6.90 USD.

4. Metrobus

Miami Airport Metrobus

Municipal buses, which complete the Miami Airport city center transportation services in 35-40 minutes on average, are one of the affordable options.

The buses I have listed below pass through the Miami International Airport stop and their single ride costs are $2.25.

  • Bus #37 between City of Hialeah and South Miami Metrorail Station,
  • Bus 42 between Miami Springs and City of Coral Gables,
  • Bus 57 operates between Airport TriRail Station and Jackson South Hospital on weekdays only.

The first and last departure times for all of these buses vary, but they generally operate between 06:00 and 23:00, and although it varies according to the bus, the bus passes every 20 minutes on average.

5. Miami Beach Bus Buses

Miami Airport Bus

If you are going to make your stay in the Miami Beach Area,  Miami Beach Bus Buses  may be an ideal choice for you.

The 150 Miami Beach Airport Express bus runs between the Airport metrorail station and Washington Avenue and costs a little bit different from regular buses, as it is an express bus, at $2.65.

It takes an average of 30 minutes to reach Miami Beach by bus, which departs every 30 minutes between 06:00 and 23:40 and has WiFi service and luggage storage compartments.

6. Hotel Pickup Service / Hotel PickUp and Private Transfers

Miami Airport Private Transfer

My suggestion for those who prefer comfort in the Miami Airport City Center Transportation Guide article, who do not want to deal with details such as where to go at the airport, how to buy tickets, and who need to reach their hotel quickly, is the airport pick-up service of the hotels.

You can see detailed information about this service  when making a reservation on Booking.com  , or if you have already made a reservation, you can check the details section later. However, if you can't see whether the hotel has such a service or not, and if so, you can find out by sending a message to the hotel through the system, and if it suits you, you can request the service.

For those who have a time limit, have a lot of luggage, travel with children or travel in groups of 2 to 4 people, another suggestion that may be suitable in terms of cost or comfort, or both, is private transfer packages. An example of these welcome and transfer services, which are very similar to hotel pickup services:

Private Group Transfer from Miami Airport to City Center : If you are traveling as a group of 2-4 people, I can say that Miami Airport is the most comfortable transportation option for you among the city center transportation options.

Moreover, since you will split the group price of 130 USD, the cost will be more affordable. The service includes airport pick-up and transportation to the door of your hotel.

7. Taxi

Miami International Airport Taxi Information

Taxi  transportation may not be as fast as hotel pickup or package transfers. Because in this option, you will have to leave the airport and enter the taxi queue. But you still won't waste much time.

Licensed airport taxis and Miami Airport city center transportation fees are fixed for certain destinations.

A standard fare of 21.70 USD from the airport to Miami city center and 32 USD to the South Beach Area is determined. If you want to go to a place other than these regions, the first 1.6 kilometers is 6.90 USD and then 2.40 USD for each 1.6 kilometer.

In brief Miami Airport City Center Transportation

Miami International Airport Transportation Guide

Miami Airport city center transportation options are extremely plentiful and suitable for all budgets. In fact, you only have the choice of how much time you can spend on transportation and whether or not to transfer.

If you don't have a problem with transferring, if your luggage is small or not heavy, MIA Mover and then the metro is the most affordable option, and it's also fast.

However, if you are traveling with children, if you have 2-3 suitcases, you can also choose taxi or hotel pick-up services.

If you are traveling in a group of 3-4 people or more, the private transfer packages that I mentioned at the beginning of the article and gave a few suggestions will be the most affordable, fast and most comfortable option for you.

In the Miami Airport City Center Transportation Guide article, I tried to give information about the transportation routes, durations and fees from the most important airport of the city to Miami city center, where THY also organizes direct flights every day.
