Air Canada sent out two press releases this morning announcing a significant increase in their flight schedules for this summer. One release covered their North American expansion which also includes seven new routes being added and the other release covered International flights beyond North America. Here are the details of the Air Canada's expansion as travel begins to recover.
North America Routes
For the North America market Air Canada will be introducing three new domestic routes within Canada and four new transborder routes to the U.S.. On top of this they will restore service on 41 routes in North America.
The new routes are as follows:
- Montreal to Atlanta and Detroit
- Toronto to Salt Lake City
- Vancouver to Austin
- Montreal to Gander
- Calgary to Fort St. John
- Vancouver to Halifax
Some highlights of 41 routes that are returning include Toronto to Ft. McMurray and New Orleans, Montreal to San Diego and Victoria, Vancouver to Boston and Quebec City, Ottawa to Winnipeg, Halifax to Boston, Calgary to Newark and Edmonton to San Francisco.

International Routes
While there are no new international routes being added, Air Canada is resuming service on 34 international routes. This includes 16 routes from Toronto to Europe and Asia, three routes from Vancouver to Europe, 14 routes from Montreal to Europe, Africa and Asia and the return of Halifax to London UK.
Some highlights of the routes returning are Tokyo from Toronto and Montreal, Toronto to Paris, Tel Aviv and Rome, Montreal to Casablanca, Athens and Nice and Vancouver to Frankfurt and Zurich.

Wrapping it up
With over 80 routes being added or re-introduced it is a big step for Air Canada to getting back to pre-pandemic operational levels and a positive sign on the road to recovery for the travel industry. For travellers it will mean more options, hopefully some lower pricing as well but most importantly for Rewards Canada fans, more Aeroplan redemption options!
