🏨 Rwrds reminder: New Hilton Hotel Openings in Canada for 2021 - 8 hotels confirmed including The Westley Calgary Downtown, Tapestry Collection by Hilton 🏨

Hilton Hotels falls into the category of a major worldwide hotel chain as they have over 6,400 hotels globally with a significant presence here in Canada with over 170 hotels in nine provinces. That number is growing quickly as Hilton has many more in the pipeline over the next few years.

The Hilton family of hotels comprise of 18 brands ranging from nice budget hotels in the Hampton Inn brand to ultra luxurious hotels from the iconic Waldorf Astoria brand.  Here in Canada we currently have nine of their brands operating and the tenth and eleventh, Canopy by Hilton and Curio Collection are being added this year.

For 2022 we have 21 planned Hilton openings in Canada, several of which were originally planned for 2021 but were moved to this year. Here they are in order of their anticipated opening date.

Highlights:

Canopy by Hilton Toronto – Yorkville

The Hilton hotel that we would say is most anticipated for 2022 is the Canopy by Hilton Toronto Yorkville. Pushed back from 2021 this hotel will be the first Canopy by Hilton in Canada. The hotel, which is part of the the new mixed-use Rosedale on Bloor building will feature 178 rooms, an indoor pool, restaurant and cafe. Although complete details of the hotel are not available on Hilton's site yet, they have let us know that the planned opening date is September 22, 2022 (subject to change of course) and that "the property will reflect the vibrant energy of the Yorkville neighborhood by bringing in local elements through design, art, food and beverage in signature Canopy style."

Vogue Hotel Montreal Downtown

Please note we have removed the images of the Vogue Hotel at the request of Hilton as they may not represent what the hotel will actually look like when the renovations are complete.

The next hotel that caught our eye isn't actually a new hotel build. It's an existing hotel in Montreal that is being renovated and changing hotel brands. That hotel is the Vogue Hotel Montreal Downtown which until recently was operating under the Loews Hotels brand. It appears the hotel just closed down in early January for renovations to join the Curio Collection by Hilton. The 148 room hotel is accepting reservations from April 20th on with rates hovering around $400 on opening night and then dropping to the mid-$300s after that. A standard award night at the Vogue Hotel will run 60,000 Hilton Honors points per night and that standard rate is actually available on opening night.

Opening night for the Vogue Hotel is $410 ($485 all in) or 60,000 points

Here's how Hilton described the Vogue Hotel to us:

Joining Curio Collection by Hilton following a series of on-property renovations, Vogue Hotel Montreal Downtown provides a chic experience in the heart of Montreal’s fashion and shopping district. Guests can enjoy a stay in one of the hotel’s oversized guestrooms with soaking tubs perfect for unwinding after a busy day. Travelers looking to explore will love that the hotel is only steps away from some of the most luxurious shops and top-rated restaurants that Montreal has to offer and numerous other downtown attractions including local art museums and parks all within a few minutes travel.

The third hotel that piqued our interest is the Bloom Mississauga and it becomes the third Tapestry Collection Hotel after the Canvas Moncton and The Westley Calgary. This hotel features an indoor swimming pool, 125 guest rooms and will feature an Indian fusion restaurant called Tandoor Chop House.

Opening night for the Bloom Mississauga starts at $176 (taxes not included) or 32,000 points

Here's Hilton's description to us of the new hotel:

Bloom Mississauga, Tapestry Collection by Hilton provides the perfect base for guests who need easy access to the surrounding areas of Toronto and Mississauga. Just 15 minutes from Toronto Pearson International Airport and nearby to major convention centers and event halls, travelers will find a place to rest and reset before returning to the action. For breakfast and dinner, guests can enjoy a meal at Tandoor Chop House, an Indian fusion restaurant combining traditional and modern styles to create a unique experience in a one-of-a-kind space

Wrapping it up

With over 20 new hotels on tap, it appears Hilton will be the hotel chain with the most new locations opening up in Canada in 2022. It is nice to see Hilton continue to expand their presence here - it is great for Canadian Hilton Honors members to have more locations to earn and burn points domestically. While we don't have a Hilton co-branded credit card here in Canada - hopefully this big expansion is incentive for them to do so - you can convert American Express Membership Rewards points to Hilton Honors so that's one avenue for you to rack up more points to redeem for free nights at these new or any other Hilton locations.

Are you excited about any of the new Hilton hotels opening up this year? Are there any locations or brands you'd like to see in your neck of the woods? Let us know in the comments below.
