I am trying to design a route. Things are not going well. I want to avoid freeways and rural roads, but when I avoid highways on Google maps, it sets me to rural highways and I don’t see an option to turn that off. I’ve checked other route planners and they’re the same.
I want to create a route comprised of city highways--two lanes on each side, but not as fast as a freeway, and that have more places around. I know this is possible because I've driven these routes long-distance before but I cannot find a route planner that replicates that. I've tried the manual atlas way but it mainly shows rural highways or freeways, not the city highways I'm looking for.
Does anyone know of a route planner or other resource that allows me to filter by type? I'm also happy to do this manually if someone knows of a map that denotes types of roads.
