With the New Year just a couple of days out, most of us start thinking about setting resolutions. According to Statisticbrain.com, 45% of Americans usually make New Year’s Resolutions, while 38% absolutely never make New Year’s Resolutions. About 49% have infrequent success, and I for sure fall into that group.
People’s resolutions rarely change year after year, and while many of us fall into that 49% category, the good news is that we do not give up and we continue to strive to make our resolutions a permanent part of our everyday life. Here are some of our top five resolutions we set every year, and a few tips on how to make them happen for 2021

1. Lose Weight.
Year over year, we all search for the Holy Grail of successful ways to lose weight. Whether it is Weight Watchers, Jenny Craig, the Mediterranean Diet, or even going Paleo, everyone has to choose his or her own method of achieving this goal and what suits him or her best. One shoe does not fill all.
In order to help make it stick for 2021 whatever you choose, aim to stick with it for 60 days. Your resolution will be checked, and it will hopefully become part of your everyday lifestyle by then.
2. Get Organized.
Everyone has his or her own definition for getting organized. For some it means getting organized within their own home or apartment by organizing bedroom closets or the laundry room. For others it may mean organizing how to pay their bills or their child’s activities. No matter what your organizing resolution is, there are a variety of resources available.

3. Spend Less, Save More.
This is one of my favorites. Who doesn’t want to find a great bargain, spend less for it and then use the money you save for other things or save for a rainy day?
4. Enjoy Life to the Fullest.
In 2021, I have been embracing this more and more, and 2021 will not be any different. So often, we dwell on the past, on what could have been, and we worry about what the future may hold that we forget to live in the present moment and embrace it.
It may be the small moments like having lunch with a dear friend or the once in the lifetime moments like taking the ultimate vacation or going to the World Series. Each moment should be captured, embraced and cherished.
5. Staying Fit & Healthy.
I work on this one every day and admit I struggle with it every day too. I am sure I am not alone in this as well. There are many websites like, shape.com, popsugar.com/fitness, and fitbottomedgirls.com to assist and help achieve this resolution.
Just remember, no matter your resolution there are plenty of resources out there to help you get to your goal and assist you in maintaining it. It’s up to you to make it happen.
