During the summer months a holiday to a tropical destination is quite popular. There are several things to do while on holiday in paradise and one exciting activity to partake in in scuba diving. Scuba diving is a wonderful way to see all that the ocean has to offer up close. If scuba diving isn’t up your alley then perhaps just snorkeling would be better suited for you. But one this is for certain; with these scuba destinations you are sure to see the ocean at its finest.
The most iconic place to scuba dive for me is the Great Barrier Reef in Australia. The Great Barrier Reef is the largest reef system in the world. It is so large in fact that it can be seen from space! The Great Barrier Reef is home to 1,500 species of fish and 400 species of corals. The great diversity found here makes it one of the best dive sites in the world. Not only does the variety of species attract divers to the reef but, so does the crystal clear water. This is why one day I hope to scuba dive at the Great Barrier Reef. Not only does the Great Barrier Reef attract me to Australia but, so do its mainland attractions.
Another interesting dive would be to get up close and personal with one of the ocean’s greatest hunters, the Great White shark. I know, it my sound scary but, in South Africa it is possible to cage dive to see these magnificent animals up close. It would be a frightening and memorable experience to see Jaws up close.
If cage diving with sharks isn’t your cup of tea then perhaps a trip to Egypt to scuba in the Red Sea is. I think a holiday in Egypt would be amazing! It is one of my dreams to visit Egypt to see the Pyramids and Sphinx. While in Egypt one might as well take advantage of what the Red Sea has to offer. The Red Sea is home to a coral reef system that features 1,200 species of fish and 220 varieties of corals. An interesting fact is that 10% of the fish are found no where else. Although, it isn’t as grand as the Great Barrier Reef it is still viewed as one of the best places to scuba dive.
