It is divided into two sections: archaeology and ethnography.
Artefacts dating back to the Stone Age all the way up to the Islamic period are on display in the archaeological section: visitors can see an extensive collection of tools including blades, borers, burins, arrowheads and scrapers, stone lids, shells and pottery, which reveal how society developed through the ages.
Meanwhile, the ethnography section provides the visitor with a more intimate experience through a careful display of items that bring long-dead local traditions back to life.
A collection of female jewellery (pendants, hairpins, necklaces and bangles) from the Stone Age features here, and the agricultural techniques and tools used through the ages are showcased.
In addition, an entire section is dedicated to falconry, an art that has been handed down over generations and which still finds a prominent place in contemporary Abu Dhabi society.
